If you purchased a forged billet wheel and tire package, you must first determine if your tires are directional or asymmetrical. For directional tires refer to the rotation arrow on the new tires sidewall, the arrow indicates the direction in which the tire should turn. For asymmetric tires, all tires should show a sidewall indication that reads “Outside, Outwards, Exterior, etc” and can be mounted on either side of the vehicle.
If you only purchased billet wheels, test fitting for clearance must be done prior to mounting tires.
Make sure to have the correct installation kit (lug nuts and wheel locks) prior to removing your old wheels and tires. Trial fit all wheels to the vehicle before mounting tires to ensure the wheel is properly matched to the lug pattern and there is adequate caliper clearance. Never force a wheel to seat against the hub by applying lug nut pressure. The wheel must go into place freely. Clear the axle flange of obstructions such as rivets, guide pins, screw fasteners or spring steel keepers before installing wheels.
WARNING! Do not use spacers to resolve any clearance problems. If spacers are installed, installer and/or user bear all responsibility. Check for excessive stud length. Excessive stud length will bottom out a closed end lug nut, preventing the wheel from being properly torqued to the mounting surface on the drum or disc.
Remove your old wheels and tires from your vehicle. We highly recommend using manual wrenches rather than power tools. Check the condition of the vehicles lug studs with your new installation kit. If you feel any resistance or see any stripped components, stop and make sure you have the correct installation kit and that the lug studs or bolt holes aren’t stripped.
After removing your old wheels, clean the hub area to remove any rust, corrosion or dirt with a wire brush if necessary. This will ensure a clean and even mounting surface
Remove any stud clips “if equipped” before installing your new billet wheels on your hubs.
Install your new billet wheel to the vehicle hub. The studs must easily fall into the lug holes of the wheels, most Pro Wheels are LUG CENTRIC. If your vehicle uses bolts ensure that the bolt holes line up with the bolt pattern of the wheels. Hub centric rings are offered please give us a call or message us.
Tighten the lug nuts by hand until the wheel sits flush against the hub. (don’t full torque them yet) If there is any resistance, stop, do not force the lug nuts or lug bolts, verify that you have the correct hardware for your vehicle. Once the lug nuts are hand tight spin the assembly to check that that it clears all brake and suspension parts. Check for brake caliper clearance and brake rotor clearance. Make sure the wheels aren’t touching any suspension components from the inside. Then lower the vehicle until the tire touches the pavement for final torquing.
Finish tightening the lug nuts or lug bolts down with an accurate torque wrench. Use a criss-cross sequence until they have reached their proper torqkue value.
After installing all four wheels and tires, lower the vehicle and push down gently on the vehicle at all four corners. Using assistance, turn the vehicle on and swing the tires left to right with your steering wheel to make sure that you have enough clearance in the fender well. After 25 miles and 100 miles re check lug nuts for proper torque.
